Why do you need the Google Analytics tool 4?

Do you have a blog or company website? Then you practically need Google Analytics. Google Analytics answers many questions. These include:

  • Do visitors use a cell phone or a computer?
  • Where does the traffic to my website come from?
  • Which pages on my website are the most popular?
  • What blog content do my visitors read the most?

With visitor tracking, you can try to improve conversions on your site. In practice, conversion means that the visitor performs a predefined action, i.e. converts. Conversions can be, for example, a visit to a website, a contact via a website, an order from an online store or an ad click.


What is Google Analytics 4

Google Analytics 4 is the latest version of Google's website analytics tool. The older version of Analytics will be phased out. New tracking codes are automatically installed on version 4. Old users are encouraged to deploy new version 4 resources alongside old resources. Compared to previous version Google Analytics 4 provides more useful information in a clearer way. You will get more comprehensive information on how customers end up on your website as well as what they do there. One big idea is the life cycle of users.

Life cycle

The life cycle is about acquiring, activating, commercializing, and retaining users.

Engagement consists of events, page views and user loyalty.

Acquisition tells how to get users to the website.

Monetization tells you what your online store produces. For example, you can see the average purchase revenue per user. You can also see how your ecommerce and ads are generating.

Retention how many new and old users your site has and what its user lifecycle value is.


Before, Analytics talked a lot mainly about sessions and pageviews. Now everything that happens on the site is an event. You can also create events yourself and event creation has been simplified, as some functions can now be tracked without code snippets or tags. The most important events can be marked as conversions.

How do I install Google Analytic 4 to my Oidom website?

2. Generate the tracking code in Analytics

You can do this in Crete Property. Enter your own name for the tracking code and fill in the other required questions. Select Data Stream as the platform for Web.


In the next step, fill in the website address as the URL. Then press the Create Strem button.

You can now find the tracking code under Tagging Instructions -> Global Site Tag (gtag.js).


3. Install the tracking code

Install the tracking code in Oidom under Settings - Code Snippets. To add the GLOBAL code, press the + besides GLOBAL and name it Analytics. Paste the code snippet into the Google code. Then publish the site.

Now everything should be fine and you can start tracking your site visitors. You can check in Analytics that the tracking ID is working. The code works if you start seeing statistics about visitors to your site. Tracking Information -> Tracking Code displays the status of the code.


Google analytics creating events and con­ver­sions

An event can be almost anything a user does on a website. This can be, for example, sending a contact or request for quotation form, viewing a page or, for example, scrolling a page. You can create new events from previously created events.

Conversions refer to the most important events of all. For example, placing an order to completion, downloading a brochure or contacting us. When you mark an event as a conversion, you'll receive comprehensive reports to optimize your content and marketing. You must first create an event in the 'All Events' section, and then you can mark the event as a conversion in the Conversions section. Note that conversion events do not appear immediately on the 'Conversions' page.

Linking Google Ads


If you're promoting your page on Google Ads, you should definitely integrate Google Analytics with Ads. This is done in Administrator under Product Linking. Next, select the Google Ads account you want to link to and choose options like personalized advertising and auto-tagging.
